Holman Moving Systems Named December Mover of the Month by Move for Hunger
January 13, 2011
Hackensack, NJ – Holman Moving Systems today announced that Move for Hunger, a non-profit that partners with moving companies to pick up unwanted, unopened food during the moving process, has named Holman Mover of the Month for December. Holman Moving donated 98 lbs of food to the Center for Food Action in Englewood, NJ in December, which was also the first month the company participated in the program. Holman Moving is among the first New Jersey movers to partner with Move for Hunger and will be donating all foods collected to the Center for Food Action.
“We are honored to be named Mover of the Month by Move for Hunger,” said Bob Holman, Executive Vice President, Holman Moving Systems. “Our team is dedicated to Move for Hunger and worked very hard to implement the program in time for the holidays. We were thrilled to have donated as much food as we did in our first month and are humbled by Move for Hunger’s recognition of our commitment to the cause.”
When people move, they often throw away unused pantry items. As part of the Move for Hunger program, Holman Moving will encourage customers to donate these goods instead. Customers who participate will place their items in a moving box that Holman will collect on moving day. Each month, Holman will deliver boxes collected to the Center for Food Action.
“Holman Moving Systems has earned the title of December’s Mover For the Month for their outstanding commitment to our cause. Though they are a new moving partner, Holman has really captured what it means to give back by engaging their employees and making Move For Hunger a core part of the way their company does business,” said Adam Lowy, Move for Hunger. “In December, Holman Moving collected 98 lbs of food for the Center For Food Action in New Jersey. This is enough food to provide nearly 75 meals to those in need. Their continued dedication will help to feed so many more struggling to find their next meal.”
According to the latest Feeding America studies, more than 850,000 people living in New Jersey receive emergency food assistance every year. Forty percent of those in need are children. With times getting tighter, these numbers are dramatically increasing.
Holman Moving Systems has pledged to deliver a minimum of 300lbs of food to the Center for Food Action each year. The company is also the first mover to join Move for Hunger in Delaware, where it will provide similar support the Food Bank of Delaware in New Castle, DE.
