Move Will Help the CFA Support More People in Need in NJ
Hackensack, NJ – Holman Moving Systems in New Jersey yesterday consolidated two warehouses for the Center for Food Action, a not-for-profit that aims to prevent homelessness and hunger in the state. As part of the project, Holman moved shelving, refrigerators and pallets of food from Elmwood Park, NJ to a larger facility in Saddle Brook, NJ.
“We were thrilled to receive help from Holman Moving,” said Irwin Vogelman, Director of Food Resources and Systems, Center for Food Action. “We specialize in feeding the hungry and preventing homelessness throughout the state - not moving warehouse materials. Without the help from Holman and their moving crews, this consolidation would have drained our resources and time. We are excited to quickly move into our larger facility, which will help us reach more people, more efficiently.”
The Center for Food Action is based out of Englewood, NJ and has outreach locations in Carlstadt, Elmwood Park, Fairview, Hackensack, Mahwah, Palisades Park and Ringwood. The warehouse in Saddle Brook, NJ will house food and equipment for the outreach centers.
“When the Center for Food Action approached us about the consolidation, we were more than happy to commit our moving services to the cause,” said Bob Holman, Executive Vice President, Holman Moving Systems. “We strongly believe in the center’s mission to fight hunger in New Jersey. In addition to this move, we also support them with monthly food donations through the Move for Hunger program.”
According to the latest Feeding America studies, more than 850,000 people living in New Jersey receive emergency food assistance every year. Forty percent of those in need are children. With times getting tighter, these numbers are dramatically increasing. In addition to food assistance, the CFA provides utility and rent support. They have also started a weekend snack pack program that provides snacks to children over the weekend when they cannot depend on schools for food.
Holman Moving Systems has pledged to deliver a minimum of 300lbs of food to the Center for Food Action each year. Since the program began in November, Holman has donated 98 pounds of food to the center.
