-  Retirement Marks Forty Years of Service within the United Van Lines Family -

New Castle, DE Holman Moving Systems, an agent for United Van Lines in Delaware and New Jersey, today announced that Peter Jerlinski, General Manager of the Hackensack, New Jersey location, will retire in July.  Jerlinski, 60, has been a valuable member of the moving industry for 40 years, holding several key positions and training nearly 100 new drivers, labor and warehouse staff during his tenure in the business. Throughout the years, Peter has also helped hundreds of thousands of customers manage the household moving process seamlessly, and with as little stress as possible.

“The moving business is a tough business, but it’s also a great one,” said Peter Jerlinski, General Manager, Holman Moving Systems. “I am proud to retire from an industry, and company, that represents what this country is all about – hard work, strong relationships and honest service. While I am looking forward to some rest and relaxation with my family, I will miss the multiple generations of drivers, laborers, owners and peers that I’ve had the opportunity to work with at Holman and United Van Lines. My best wishes to everyone for a happy and healthy summer moving season.”

Peter Jerlinski began his household moving career in 1971 as a loading dock helper for Holman Moving Systems in Hackensack, New Jersey.  With an innate entrepreneurial spirit, and under the guidance of then-owner George “Bud” Holman, Peter steadily progressed from helper to company driver. His overwhelming success with both customers and agents led him to owner-operator driver status, beginning with a straight truck in the New York Metro market and culminating as a long haul “permanent lease” United Van Lines driver for customers throughout the United States and Canada.

In 1988, Peter opted to stop driving and left Holman Moving Systems to move to California, where he joined Admiral Moving and Storage, another agent for United Van Lines, as a warehouse manager. In 1990, Pete moved back to New Jersey for family reasons and accepted a management job at Victory Worldwide Transportation, also a United agent. In 1993, he returned to Holman Moving Systems and has managed the Hackensack location ever since.

“It is with great pride, and a lot of nostalgia, that we say goodbye to such a valuable member of our team,” said Katherine Holman, President, Holman Moving Systems. “We are profoundly grateful for all of Pete’s hard work throughout the decades and for his dedication to Holman, United Van Lines and the moving industry at large. While he cannot be replaced, he leaves behind a legacy and team that will take the New Jersey office to new heights in years to come. We wholeheartedly wish Pete and his family the best on the next chapter of their lives.”

Peter has always wanted to drive an ice cream truck “because it makes people smile,” and plans to pursue this dream in his retirement. He also wants to spend quality time with his eight-month old granddaughter, his three daughters and his wife.  Peter, and his family, all live in River Edge, New Jersey.
